Creating Super Stoke.

Student Advisory Crew

The Oregon League’s Student Advisory crew is responsible for sharing the student-athlete’s perspective and creating super stoke around the student-athlete experience throughout the season. This is a collaborative, engaged group of students who are ready to take on a leadership role and provide insight to the league’s leadership.

Advisory crew members will help shape the future of the Oregon League, advise on timely issues, and advocate for the best interests of all student-athletes.

Meet the Crew

  • I’ve been involved in NICA for 4 years, going on 5.

  • For this year, I’m definitely most excited to push my friends to their limit, and really see what we can accomplish as a team. I would say an area of focus should be event weekend activities, so that riders from other teams can make connections!

  • One piece of advice I’d give to an incoming student athlete would be to don’t be afraid to try new things and make friends! Also to expect failure, because it happens to the best of us. Although don’t let that failure ruin progress, keep your head up and keep pushing.

  • Music that I’m really into lately is rock, specifically Creed.

  • Post ride food has got to be a recovery shake and pasta!

  • A new hobby I’ve gotten into lately has been spikeball. I’ve played way too much with my friends this summer, but It’s a nice way to recover from a hard ride.

  • I have been with the Oregon league for 4 years now.

  • This season I am most excited to ride the new race course at the vineyard!

  • As a GRiT Ambassador I would love to put a focus on that program.

  • One piece of advice I would give is to not be afraid to go out and ride however you want, take it at your own pace.

  • I have been listening to a lot of Florence + The Machine lately.

  • My favorite post ride food is French fries.

  • Ask me about working in a bike shop!

  • I have been involved in the Oregon League since eighth grade and this will be my fifth season racing.

  • This season, I am most excited for the silly Varsity podiums, making new friends and the new venue!

  • I’d like to focus on the student athletes’ experience and learning about the Oregon League’s partnerships.

  • For a new student-athlete joining the league, I would say don’t be scared of making friends with kids from other teams. Everyone is really nice, and more likely than not you’ll make some great friends! I have been fortunate enough to become close friends and riding buddies with kids all across Oregon.

  • Earlier this summer I made a dance to “I’m Like a Bird” by Nelly Furtado. I also have been enjoying reading “The Stranger” and “Discrete Math (and Other Stuff).

  • My favorite post-ride food experience is going to Dave’s Hot Chicken with my friends.

  • Ask me about the times I’ve chipped my front teeth (both not from biking). You can also ask me about my volunteer position with Mt. Hood Junior Ski Patrol; I feel like most NICA riders would really enjoy it!

  • This is my sixth year with the Oregon League.

  • I’m most excited about getting to race at and ride a new trail system (Rickreall).

  • My priorities/areas of focus are event weekend activities and local trail advocacy.

  • My advice for a new student-athlete: don’t be intimidated by your teammates, they’re on your side and try your best not to DNF. YOU CAN DO ITTT!

  • I’ve really been enjoying the book “Dune” and music from The Wood Brothers.

  • Favorite post-ride food: a Snickers bar.

  • I am most excited for the varsity girls top secret podium outfits!

  • I would love to prioritize and focus on GRiT or partnerships.

  • Advice to new riders: Focus on becoming a well-rounded rider, because fitness will come with time, but speed isn’t the only thing that wins races; technical skills and nutrition are key factors as well.

  • I love scary movies.

  • Favorite post ride food: Burritos!

  • Ask me about snowboarding!

  • I have been involved with the league since the 2020 season.

  • An area of focus I want to have with the league is event-weekend activities.
