Coach Camp
Hood River
April 17 - 19, 2026
This year’s coach camp is jam packed with sessions to help you plan your season and feel confident in your role as a coach with your team. Join our group of new and experienced coaches as we collectively share how to have a season that’s full of fun, growth, and joy (our measures for a successful season). Attendees will leave with:
Ideas on how to create ride groups and team practices that cater to all students and coaches
Tools to use when disagreement and conflict happen
Connections and relationships with other coaches and leaders in the league
Our agenda includes:
Discussions on how to weave belonging into every component of your team, including family and student interactions, team rides, practice planning, and succession planning.
John O’Sullivan of Changing the Game fame will join us to discuss how to talk with teenagers, not only meeting them where they're at developmentally but also where they are generationally.
Student Advisory Crew members - now alumni - will give you first-hand experience from what it’s like to be involved in NICA programming and how to keep the student-athletes at the forefront in all you do. Hint: Keep it simple, keep it FUN!
We’re providing two socials this year! Socials are the best way to connect with other coaches, and we want to make sure you’ve got some dedicated time to meet others in this group.
Guided bike ride at nearby trail systems, thanks to the hospitable Hood River Composite coaches.
To round out the offerings of the weekend, we also have On-the-Bike (OTB) 101 and 201, Wilderness First Aid, and CPR opportunities available.
Who should attend: Coaches and team directors (at least one representative from each team, but the more the merrier!)
Why: The intent of this event is to bring our coaching community together to learn, share ideas and better understand the student-athlete experience and our collective roles in creating a strong community. We believe everyone has something unique to add to the discussion and this is a great way to get everybody together before the season ramps up.
Accommodations: Hotels, Airbnbs, and Base Camp for camping are available in Hood River and surrounding areas.
