Really Awesome
Challenging Event
What exactly is a race?
A word about RACE-ing, Oregon League style. We’ve been at this for a while and have been learning along the way, with one big lesson being what "mountain bike racing" means to the general public. The image of a mountain bike race conjures up something that may not really illustrate what we're all about, so to clear up what we mean in this community (and beyond!), our definition is REALLY AWESOME CHALLENGING EVENT. Our goal is getting youth on two wheels to connect to the magical powers of nature, work on overcoming physical and mental obstacles, and have a fun time doing it while a whole community of rad people are there rooting for them. These are short-term events designed to inspire and champion the long-term: a lifelong pursuit of enjoying the world via two wheels.
If you're involved with a team, you're most likely already seeing this happen at your practices. And if you're not involved with a team but would like to come spectate or help out at our events this fall, we welcome you to see what this is all about!
If you've never been to NICA Oregon League event, you're in for a real treat. Unlike other bike races, our NICA events are solely for middle and high school students and we take pride in all aspects of our race production. Read more on what to expect during a race weekend here.
