PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Position Type: Full-time; some evenings and weekends required, especially during the summer and fall
Location: Oregon; remote within state with travel to event sites
Reports To: Executive Director
The Program Director oversees the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Oregon League’s core programs. This includes managing league RACE weekends, camps, GRiT (Girls Riding Together) initiatives, Teen Trail Corps, coach support, and outreach to underserved communities. The Program Director plays a key role in growing the league, building an inclusive community, and ensuring a high-quality, safe experience for all student-athletes and coaches.
About the Oregon League
The Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League was organized in 2017 to provide a fun, safe and high quality mountain biking program for students in grades 6 to 12. With the cooperation of partners and sponsors, the league is able to provide high quality experiential education through mountain biking. Key Responsibilities
Program Management
Plan and execute the annual RACE series, skills camps, GRiT events, and Teen Trail Corps initiatives
Develop event timelines, secure venues, manage permits, and coordinate logistics (equipment, timing, course marking)
Ensure all programs follow NICA standards for safety and inclusivity
Outreach & Equity
Build relationships with schools, community organizations, and sponsors to extend access
Coordinate with local trail advocacy groups to develop partnerships
Track data on participation and outcomes to inform future equity initiatives
Grow participation among underrepresented groups, including lower-income families and girls, by strengthening scholarship and GRiT efforts
Volunteer & Coach Support
Recruit, train, and support volunteers and coaches to build local capacity
Maintain a strong relationship with team directors and provide them with resources for success
Administration & Reporting
Manage program budgets, track expenses, and prepare reports for the board and funders
Ensure compliance with NICA and league policies, including risk management and insurance requirements.
Organizational & Strategic Support
Contribute to long-range planning to grow league capacity sustainably and equitably
Assist with program evaluation, grant reporting, and tracking metrics tied to growth and diversity
Collaborate on fundraising and sponsorship initiatives to ensure long-term support for programming

Personable and collaborative
Passion for youth development, outdoor adventure, and expanding equitable access to recreation.
Experience in program management, community outreach, or education (preferably with youth or recreation organizations).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders (students, families, coaches, schools, nonprofits, public agencies)
Ability to organize multiple projects, events, and relationships across a large geographic area.
Comfortable working weekends or evenings as needed for events, with regular in-state travel.
Familiarity with mountain biking, trail stewardship, or related outdoor activities is a plus—but enthusiasm and willingness to learn are most important
Background check will need to be processed (required for work with student-athletes)

Benefits
Full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director
Based in Oregon with remote work flexibility; statewide travel required
Salary range: $60,000 plus benefits package (health stipend, 401k, mileage reimbursement, professional development support).
